Race Unity Day

Second Sunday in June  ·  Observed since 1957

“Ye are the fruits of one tree,
and the leaves of one branch.”

— Bahá’u’lláh

What is Race Unity Day

A day to celebrate, to listen, and to build

Race Unity Day has been observed across the United States since 1957, when it was established by the National Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá’ís of the United States. It is a day set apart to celebrate the diversity of our communities, to have honest conversations about race, and to strengthen the bonds that hold us together as neighbors and fellow citizens.

The Bahá’í writings teach that the diversity of the human family is not a problem to be solved but a gift to be celebrated — that unity and diversity are not in tension, but are the very source of beauty and strength in our common life.

Juneau 2026

Help us shape something meaningful for our city

The Local Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá’ís of Juneau is reaching out to organizations and community groups across our city with a simple invitation: help us make June 14th something meaningful for Juneau.

We don’t yet have a fixed plan — and that’s intentional. We believe the best community events grow out of genuine collaboration, shaped by the voices and gifts of everyone who shows up. Whether that becomes a gathering, a conversation, a celebration, or something we haven’t imagined yet, we’d love to find out together.

Help plan from the start

Roll up your sleeves and sit at the table with us. We’d be thrilled to have your voice shaping this from day one.

Stay informed and share

Stay in the loop as plans develop and share the event with your community when the time comes.

Simply show up

Come and be present on June 14th. Every level of participation is genuinely and warmly welcome.
